I mean, he's not a very good character, but he's just so funny to play with. Things wrong with Shuma - 1) He's pretty slow. Walking, jumping, everything. His dash is also one of the slowest in the game, takes forever to start up too. 2) Can't play catch up. Shuma's the ultimate loser when it comes to playing against keep away guys. So those crazy Sprial, Cable, and Doom games kick my ass every time. 3) Cant play keep-away. Not really that important, but still. I mean, his projectile doesn't even go across the whole screen. ...that's all I can think of. So where are the octopus masters out there!?! Posted by Amdabes on 05:02:2001 11:38 PM: He's a part of my scrub team. Son Son/Shuma/Akuma. Usually all I do it try to jump in with hk then air combo ending with a hk grab which sucks energy. And I also try to connect the super grab thing. He's not very good though but hes really fun to play. Posted by vega2001 on 05:03:2001 12:01 AM: Yeah, I play Shuma occasionally. I was at this tournament once and this guy was kicking everybody's ass with him by doing the whole power drain deal (throw motion) and using that super that takes a lot of energy off. Since that day, I will bust him out and I mainly try to get a lot of cheap jabs and shorts in. Posted by AZER on 05:03:2001 12:10 AM: Shuma Groath is not a bad character. I use him at times with my team. Doom-AAA/Shuma Groath-Projectile/Blackheart-AAA What you do is in the start of the match is start out with the Doom-Blackheart trap until you get enough levels then switch to Shuma Groath. Use your assist to activate your Chaos Dimension. Throw in assist to capture your opponent. That pretty much what you can do with Shuma. Just make sure you get the timing down and in the finish them off with a throw super in the corner. Watch one of James chen videos. And what can you do to OTG them after TD? Just a Mystic Smash? For example: you dash, and before the dash ends, you press down to cancel it, and then you press --> + two punches to dash again It really helps you cover the screen. As for the Chaos Dimension. Dash in with c. lp + Doom AAA, c. lp, while they are blocking Doom's AAA, jump over them and activate the CD, go into an air combo, and grab them The activation of the CD is an unblockable "hit", so it "hits" them out of blockstun, allowing you to proceed into an air combo and grab them. Like you're some kind of dirty player or some shiet. Shuma is REALLY fun to play if you can use him. Posted by Zazzarius on 05:06:2001 06:21 AM: shuma is hilarious is play as you gotta abuse that mystic smash, its a good way to punish people in the recovery of a fireball like a hadoken also, doom's molecular shield assist is very helpful, especially went waiting for those eye bombs to detonate for extra damage and in air combos, always go for the mid air kick grab for some of that precious life, the timing is easy once you initially figure it out, and mashing during the throw nets you yet more life. Just a Mystic Smash? i need to experiment with comboing the CD, but for the otg after, hit them with wk, mk after they land to launch them again and then aircombo into the grab for some extra damage Posted by Dark Strider on 05:07:2001 02:00 AM: Shuma is a fun character to use! One neat combo he can do is -(in or close to corner) launch with S.LK,LK, SJ.^ JP, LK, SP, (up) FP, while falling (up) FP, you'll land before them and from here you can do either-C.LK, C.RK or C.LK, mystic smash. You may be able to do Shuma's QC+2K super (sorry, forgot the name) after the crouching LK but i'm not sure, try it. They get this look on their faces like they want to knife you up or run you down with their Benz. But...apparently you need to be good before you mess 'em up good. Got to try wave dashing, and pairing Shuma up with Doom. Anyone know how to combo the Mystic Smash super thing?
